UPDATE – Added University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) to the list.

Is your hospital still waiting to try social media? Here’s something to consider:

All 14 hospitals listed on the 2010-2011 U.S. News Honor Roll are using social media.

78% of the larger Best Hospitals List are also engaged on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

Maybe it’s time to take a closer look.

Ed,
Thanks for your great efforts to track what hospitals are doing on social media. One correction, though: We ARE using social media at UPMC. We have a UPMC Facebook page now, with nearly 2,000 fans, and use twitter in some of our service lines (i.e. urgent care, sports medicine). We’re novices, to be sure, but we’re learning.

Thanks

Wendy,

Thank you for the update – very happy to have UPMC added to the list. My apologies for missing you when I researched.
